Generally I have no problem going or being at work but today it's killing me. I think I'm missing out on what may have been the best Smallie day of the season. 

 

35 deg. Air temp. No air movement, dead calm. River will be like glass. We had an early sign of fall back in the beginning of September for a few days and I hammered them. We went into a heat spell for the last month. Bite slowed but catchable. Fall appeared this morning. Sort of bummed. Please shoot me. 

 

Good of luck to anyone in the NE that can score today. 

 

It will have to be Saturday and Sunday for me.

My season is kicked down now. Had a fun year. Did get a few nice smallies. Two people that are not Smallie fisherman I had them out and hooked them up with a few nice fish this season. They were cool with a few pics and putting them back. 

 

I have Lake Ontario in my sights this upcoming season. Can't wait. Never Smallie fished it but I'm not gonna over think it. Just gonna go do it. 

Getting time for hair jigs

I play around with some trout during the late fall and early winter. Screw around with the fly rod some. Keeps me from going stir crazy. Close to home also. 

Unfortunately my river smallie catching is done for the year as well.  I've never been able to figure out where they go in the wintertime, although I've never really looked for them either.  So from now until the water starts warming up again next spring I'm fishing for skunks and the occasional walleye.
