I'm new to this forum and recently started fishing. To that end, I have acquired a 6' Shimano Sellus Travel rod Medium power, Fast action. I had intended to pick up another rod, but apparently this is what I got. What is it good for? My understanding from the site is that it's for bass fishing, but what if I want to do trout fishing? Shore fishing? Please help me understand.

I have a Shimano Sienna 2500 reel and 6 lb mono spiderwire as well.

It's a general use spinning rod suitable for trout fishing and finesse bass fishing presentations like split shot, Ned rigs etc.

You can throw crank baits pretty good with it to or rooster tails and aglias I had one before there good rods for 50 bucks.
