Sounds like the lake my family has a cabin on. Very little fishing pressure with no public access. It's around 120 acres. Shorelines are shallow with steep drop-offs and very little weed cover. I catch a lotta 10-12" bass that are pale and skinny. I have caught 3 bass over 14" and one was my PB (5.5#). The bluegill are also small overall but there some nice crappie in there. I wanna figure it out but haven't been able to catch bigger ones consistently.

oh wow.  this place is weedy tho, good lily pads and submerge weeds.

i bet theres some bigger bass down there, try fishing bigger baits

Yeah, I'll have to do that. I caught my PB in April on a little Beetle Spin. There's another lake that's closer that is a lot more fertile but gets a lot of pressure. I usually can catch a few keepers there so I have a hard time passing that up.

Well the bite was horrible in 2018 at this spot, cold wet and rainy. I caught a 5.9 in early March, Think is was March 9th, cold raw day, just before a snow storm came through. Got it on a Matts meathead deep diver. That was it for the year at this spot. 2018 was just in general a slow year for me.

In March of 2019, I will be fishing here with some big soft baits. Big Real Prey pond shiners. I know theres a GIANT down there in its depths. So much forage here, its crazy. At dusk the pond comes alive with fish feeding on bugs. I should bust out the fly rod and see what they  are one day! SOOOOO MUCH FORAGE!!!!!!

I caught a 1.5lbs bass on a 10 inch swimbait here last spring! The fish hit hard to!!

Yeah, I have a small pond like that, It's either 1 lb or over 6, nothing in between. I could be a number of factors.

yea thats what I'm thinking! There an over abundance of smaller fish, but the smaller fish become prey to the large fish! The ecosystem may not be perfectly balanced between the small fish and big fish but I dont think the balance is completely one sided. I do get a good amount of large fish here. I  dont feel comfortable eating the fish but dont want to kill the small bass. How to balance the population?
