Great potential, but tough to unlock...Four mile run is a tidal tributary with a junction just off the Potomac river, and a warm water discharge that keeps things around 50F or so all winter. Water temp is usually 5-6F higher at and just after low tide vs an outgoing tide. Depth range from 3-7 ft. Clarity highly variable. Current slow to moderate. 

 

 The bite is difficult to predict but can be incredible. What works: dropshotting worms, small poppers, jigs, Cranks...basically everything. 

 

Im still trying go figure the place out. Any insights would be great!

The fishing is easy, most everything works there, just make sure you wash up well after going there, Its one of the most polluted tribs around. Don't let the clear water fool you.

It’s not easy for me. LOL I catch good fish in lakes and ponds but river game is weak I guess. And 4 mile is different than anywhere else. Everything’s backwards there. Maybe it’s just timing.

Yeah, it's tidal, so there's that. Also it's popular in the winter cause of the WWD. There are a couple of deeper pockets, where the fish will lay when not roaming. Waders or muck boots are a must if you want to catch consistently.

I’ve got those. I probably just need to spend more time there. When they’re on they’re on. Which in the winter is short spurts. 

I didn't realize you could bank fish there, I got the impression somehow that it was boat/kayak only.

yes it’s a popular spot

Not overly easy getting a boat back there, have to catch tides right. There is a big mud flat right at the entrance, in low tide you can very easily get stuck. There are several good holes though that if you hit them at the right time can be very good.

Looking at it on a map, I have no idea where I was thinking of, but Four Mile run clearly isn't it.  

Yea. Most people use yaks if by boat. Perfect for Shore wading tho.
