Minn Kota trolling motor mounting question

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a used Minn Kota Maxxum 70 to replace an old Motor Guide trolling motor.  Fortunately, the mounting holes line up.  My question is, do I need anything between the trolling motor mount and my boat?

The old Motor Guide had a metal bracket that had a small square rubber piece.  I did not receive anything like this with the Maxxum trolling motor.

Thanks

Shane

Not required but its not a bad idea to add some rubber washers for shock and to keep the mount from scratching or imprinting on the deck

That's what I do.

If your hold down strap is held in place by the mount, you'll have to do something different there if you add washers.
