I was thinking the same thing, but wasn't entirely sure.

 

I hear those catfish have human noodling tournaments. Wow.

Actually the video that Boomstick posted is a Piraiba catfish from South America, not a Wels Catfish from Europe.  The Wels Catfish is an introduced species that is non-native.  The Piraiba is native to the greater Amazon River basin in South America.  Jeremy Wade targeted both of them in separate episodes of River Monsters.

Good call. I've seen both episodes (past), couldn't remember

specifics, only that it was familiar.

Depending on where, Wels are illegal to keep and must be

released back into the river. Not sure if his was under that

rule or not...

I had no idea. That would be a shame not to be able to mount that I personally would want the fish and not a replica with that size.
