Megabass F6.5-70 XX Jig & Worm

Recommended Posts

Any thoughts or first hand experience with this.

Thinking of it for jigs and flipping into light vegetation.

 Thanks

I haven't personally fished the jig&worm, but after they were recently discounted I did look in to getting one since my experience with the XX series otherwise has been good.  Seems like general thoughts on the rod are good in the grand scheme of things, but it is one of the less popular or exciting models in the XX line specifically. Hopefully that helps a little? Most of the info I found was on tackle tour

This model is 100 off at the tackle trap.  For 200 dollars it might be worth it to try your first megabass.  If your looking for that it factor I have not seen any feed back on that rod.  The original perfect pitch on the other hand has a cult following.  I have not fished the xx line.  The rods I have used are big bait rods and there sweet.

The XX Jig & Worm is discontinued and the new XX dropped the Jig & Worm rod so it is only available in the prior generation. A few may still be floating around. For $200 it may be worth trying. I don't have any experience with the exact model, but I do have experience with the XX Spinnerbait Special and Jerkbait Special. I thought the rods looked great, the sensitivity was good, balance was good, the QC was exceptional. The only negatives were the cork had a bunch of filler and I was not fond of the hook keeper.

I would recommend waiting to hear others reviews when the new XXs comes out. I think it will be a great improvement. Megabass is completely revamping the entire lineup and is rumored to be utilizing a new graphite in the new XX being released in May. A bunch of new models are being introduced that may be a good fit.

The J&W is very unpopular due it being pretty tip heavy and the TV being so close in comparison. Depending on jig/trailer weights the tour versatile might be a better option. It’s pretty stout and doesn’t really load up that well with anything under 3/8. 1/2 loads a lot better.

Thanks, that seams to be the consensus on a couple other boards
