I went and bought some nail weights today for my stick baits . I generally fish wacky style , is anyone familiar with the nail weights technique ?

I just started using this technique, I like it pretty good. I just put a nail weigh in one end of the bait, and fish it wacky style. You don't have to use stick baits though.

That's good stuff I've seen it but yet to try it I useally use a wacky hook weighted . 

I heard you can put the WEIGHT in the middle as well

I just use regular 2" wood screws and prefer a senko or trick worm. Good night fishing bait when they're finicky

A wacky rigged worm  with a nail weight in its nose is called the Neko rig. 

It sinks a lot different than the weighted wacky rig. on lakes that see a lot of wacky rigs it gives the fish something different to look at.

While the wacky rig shimmies on the way down, the Neko rig takes a straight path to the bottom.

it can be fished a lot faster when fish are active.

To me its a cross between a shakyhead and a wacky rig.

I use senkos, small finesse worms, and trick worms for this rig.

Neko means cat in Japan I think not sure but my daughter told me that. So it’s the cat rig!

I prefer to use paneling nails, they have the little ridge to hold them in place, cheap, & can be bought in bulk.

 

Texas Rig a Trick Worm with a 3/0 hook & a 3/4-1" nail in the tail, it'll fall horizontally.

During post spawn ?

Had a lot of luck with a neko rig last summer using a finishing nail, o ring, wacky hook, and a zoom trick worm watermelon chartreuse tail. Works well. 

I'm going to go with the clear rubber bands this year . The one's for braces

Fish it pre-spawn up and into the fall! In the fall or when the shad spawn it is a killer  on a fluke!

Its also a great bullet weight replacement when the algae gets thick. 

I'm with catt....I use nails I buy by the pound at the hardware store.

 

Buying expensive, pre-made, fancy packaged, nail weights seems like a fool's errand to me....especially since the weight is in the bait which can and will get flung off the hook.
