New to the forumn. Seeing who all fishes the Shenandoah. Been fishing the low water bridge area havent had a ton of action. Caught one the other day on a jerk bait. Whats been working for yall and hows the fishing been for you guys?

Welcome.  Love floating the South Fork; all floats between from Low Water  Bridge and Eastham Park.  Haven't been since late last summer, however.  There's a number of 'Doah fans on here who may chime in. 

Are you fishing from shore?  Wading? Canoe? Kayak?

Never been this early in the year, so my experience may mean little right now.

   Even when doing a float, I like to paddle up from Low Water Bridge a little ways.  Maybe a quarter mile up, and depending on water levels, there's thin riffle section and a couple/few small 'islands' (little more than pile of rocks) on the left.  There's good holes in the eddies there.  Further down, along the campground I find new good holes each time.  Even a good spot to beach your boat (or anchor) and work them thoroughly.  There's an area, I think close when you first come upon the State Park with two sets of riffles about quarter mile apart - maybe little more.  I found a number of good holes in that area in the summer.  I'm partial to small cranks, plastics on Owner Ultrahead Finesse jigs, and inline spinners.  Some days flukes will outperform anything....some days...well, they don't

 Saw a ton of great spots we just didnt fish them heavy though. Just floated with the current since we werent 100% what time we were going to get out. More of a spur of the moment type of float trip. I was fishing a transparent husky jerk since it was going down stream close to the rate I was floating. Possibly been fishing a little fast for the time of year. Usually hooking up isnt a struggle as it felt.

Should fish it when you get a chance. Generally fishing is really good in the Shenandoah

Very late to the party here but just wanted to see how everyone else has been doing on the river. I live just a couple minutes from the town of Shenandoah and fish there all the time. Egypt Bend has been producing well and floating from Island Ford to Elkton or Elkton to Shenandoah have been getting lots of numbers.

Im near the Shenandoah by berrryville. Hasnt been to bed for producing but river has been a whole nee river this year by me. 

I actually just joined this forum and I'm in Harrisonburg. I don't float, but you can find me at the Island Ford landing most Sunday mornings at sunrise. When I say most, I mean I have only been fishing the river a few weeks now, but have fallen in love with smallie fishing in there. I know about the other boat landings, but I need to figure out some good shore access spots for the South Fork to vary it up. I'm not averse to getting wet, typically wading out about waist deep to help get my baits in the current, but I have no boat or tube or anything.

 

I've been having some good luck on weightless Texas rigged stick baits and a Whopper Plopper. I've been trying different things each time.
