Like I said in another thread, I'm home from work with a cold and bored out of my skull!

Question about jigs, sizes to be exact. I have never fished a jig before and looking forward to it but........is there any size in particular I should concentrate on? For instance would I be better of starting with a finesse size or doesn't really matter? Does it matter that I'm fishing from shore?
