For those of you who use something like JJ's Magic or something similar to custom paint your soft plastics (no Zman...just say no...lol) what do you use to paint them? I've heard some people use q-tips while others use actual paintbrushes...just wondering if one method is better than another as far as results and being less messy?

I generally just dip them, but you can also use a cotton swab.  There should be a video on the JJ's site of JJ himself painting up a pattern with a cotton swab.

I use spike it scented markers when i need to do something other than dip.

JJ’s & Spike It are strong scented dye not paint.

Barlows Tackle has soft plastic paint, I use pearl white that works good applied with small model brush.

Sharpi pens work on some soft plastic and hard lures.

This stuff is amazing.  Sticks to all soft plastics and won't rub off.

yes, I guess I should have been more specific in that I was talking about Spike It pens and JJ's Magic which I have.

No, but if you pre-coat a bait with clear, you can add another color over with a swab.  It's in the video, and it works.
