What lures to use at Douglas lake?

Featured Replies

I need Some advice on what lures to use at Douglas lake in Tennessee because I am going there this summer but don’t know what to use. Can I get some advice on what colors they like to eat or some lures, thanks in advance.

It’s a ledge lake and the summer bite will be deep 20-30ft.  Big crankbaits, swimbaits, 10” worm, & shakyhead on the ledges should work. Good luck.

Thanks

Look for schooling fish early, up in the creeks also. have a topwater ready. Spook , sammy, pencil popper ..etc. Carolina rig will work on the ledges if you arent a deep cranker. Also, keitech swimbaits on a 1/4oz jighead will work for smallmouth as well.

If you haven’t already visited don’t  forget to check shallow as well, especially in the trees you see in the water. Swim jig in the trees has done well for me over the years if I can’t find them deep. I live on the lake and have caught some good ones already this summer walking around in my back yard. Cherry Seed Mag II worms or Ol Monster T-rigged or Carolina rigged. Deep cranks in Citrus Shad and some bait fish colors, big spoons and big blade baits, and 3/4 oz jigs along with swimbaits are the norm here. Enjoy your trip if you haven’t already been here.

We are looking for a seasonal campground on Douglas where we can set our camper up and leave it. Come and go as we can. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I love to bass fish and have a Z20 Nitro. Never fished Douglas. Is it a good lake for bass spring and fall?
