Hey there, I've got two Baitcasters with med heavy rods. Do I need a med action or can I make do with what I have. I fish soft plastics more than anything else.

Like Darren said, your covered, but I love a Med as I am more accurate with a Med BC than I am spinner. Also, the M is better for Lighter CB

I own 2 medium power baitcasters. One for finesse jigs and shakey heads and the other for drop shot. I pick up these rods the least amount in my arsenal. They are great rods and perform well, but not too versatile. If you are looking to add to your arsenal Then that would be the rod I would be looking to add. But if you are just curious if you have your bases covered, I would say you're good to go. 

as everyone before has mentioned, you should be covered.

I use medium heavy casting rods 90% of the time.

the one place I tend to lean toward medium action rods is on smaller lakes. Around here these lakes tend to be clearer and there is less cover.

Even though I only use medium action rods 10% of the time, the last 4 big bass I have caught has been on medium action bait casters with 12 lb fluorocarbon line.

If you fish a lot of weightless plastics trick worms or drop shot then yes you should think about investing in a medium fast action spinning rod. I use both mh and m rods 50/50% of the time.

I fish a lot of soft plastics myself but throw them on either my medium spinning set up or medium/heavy casting set up. Don’t seem to have any issues at all with my medium/heavy throwing soft plastics 

you need a fly rod. 6 or 7 weight. you won't stop smiling!

I think some here are saying action but mean power.  Including the original post?  Action is described by the words slow, medium, fast, extra fast, etc.  All are "speed" terms and describe how the rod bends, not the force it takes to make it bend.  Power is described by the words light, medium, heavy, or combinations of these terms that imply the force it takes to make the rod bend.

Medium Action, or Medium Power? was going to be my question when I opened this thread.  Thanks for beating me to it.

Mh baitcasting and m spinning should cover most techniques. 

I even throw down to a weightless senko on a MH/F baitcaster. The tat sv slings it a mile. Since then my medium baitcaster hasn't left the jeep once. You got your bases covered with a M spinning.
