What fluoro should I try on crankbait rod?

Featured Replies

My main rod is a new Lew Mach 2 combo that I do most of my fishing on but I’ve got a 7’ Fiberglass Bass Pro rod/baitcasting reel that I haven’t used in years and I want to get some use out of it. I’m thinking I should make it a crankbait rod (but I would certainly entertain other ideas of what I do with it.) If I do that it sounds like most people recommend fluorocarbon for crankbait fishing be it because the link will sink or whatever.

I pretty much use Sufix 832 40lb braid on my stuff and have never used fluoro. What particular brand, model and strength would you recommend for me? If it helps I would primarily be using average sized crankbaits that go anywhere from 7 to 15-20 feet deep.

Try Invizx, it's a good quality line that has as good a knot strength as most others.

Its too stretchy for me to use for anything else but makes a good line for cranks.

InvizX makes for awesome crankbait line. The stretch is great for cranks, knot strength is unbelievable! Sunline crank is also great

I'm a big fan of sunline fc sniper in 12#. It has been good to me.

I prefer sunline assassin for cranking

If your only going to fish crank baits only. I like p line tactical 10 to 12 pound.

can someone break down the major differences between FC Shooter, Sniper & Assassin?

Also, anyone used the FC Crank?

Unless you just really want to spend the extra money or you need all the depth you can get, there's no need for fluorocarbon for cranking. Big Game or Pline CXX does a great job for cranking for way less money.

Assassin is great line. Super slick and handles amazingly, I have only used assassin so cannot speak to the other lines. I have read that people like assassin for jerkbaits/cranks. But I have used it for jigs and worms as well and was tickled pink with the performance
