What are your favorite straight shank lighter wire worm hooks. Currently using gamagatsu 1/0 .Using up my supply of these and looking for alternatives. I've done good with gamas,  but wondering if you prefer another brand/type. Setup is 6/6 med Fenwick hmg spinning rod, 1/8 brass bullet weight, 8mm glass bead to hook.Line is maxima 6 or 8lb mono.Fishing clear water depths of 5 to 30 ft. Roboworms and zoom trick/ finesse worms.Thanks in advance

I like the Gamakatsu's but I also use the Roboworm Rebarb hooks, they make them up to 4/0 and they are a bit lighter wire for their size than other worm hooks. I got some of the 4/0 to try this summer with larger worms for spinning gear and lighter weights. They also have a small keeper to hold them in place. I haven't fished them enough to give my opinion strength wise but they seem like nice hooks. 

I like the Gamakatsu hooks as well. For trick worms and others in that size I would go to a 3/0 or 4/0 hook. The 1/0 is fine for the smaller finesse worms.

Rebarb hooks are Gamakatsu hooks . . . so we know they are high quality. I just love the keeper on these hooks, love the hook-up ratios using the lighter wire/smaller sizes; but, I have an order coming in now where I added the 3/0 and 4/0s for some larger presentation ideas.

 

Most on-line sources don't seem to carry them, but Rebarb hooks are also available in an Aberdeen style in smaller sizes, so maybe for crappie, various other pan fish. 

 

For me in worm hook style rankings order, it is: straight shank > offset > EWG. I use the others for beefier plastics, other occasions.

I bought some BPS straight shank round bend on a whim  and was pleased.  I really like Tru-Turn, and they seem to stay stuck better.  Regular straight hooks hang up easier than Tru-Turn or offset.  I guess the easier they hook fish, the easier they get hung up.
