FF Mounting

Featured Replies

I just got a new Humminbird 525 for the bow of my boat. I got the bracket to mount the transducer on my TM cause I already have one in the back. How do I go about running the wire for the transducer down to my TM prop so that it doesn't interfere with pulling it up ect. I have a PowerDrive 55 bow mount if that helps.

Zip tie it to the shaft  ;)

With the Power Drive, you cannot zip tie it to the shaft like a normal trolling motor.  You can zip tie it at the bottom but you have to leave a big loop of cable out for the motor to be able to turn.  I know one guy that ran the cable down the shaft and popped it out at the top of the housing.  He used JB weld to fill in the hole around the cable.  It has worked for a couple years with out leaking.

Run the cable from your unit up thru the coiled TM cable. Zip tie the transducer cable to the TM shaft near the then again a little ways down - but above the pivot point. Then leave it free. Zip tie it again to a small hole you drill thru the fin on the topside of the motor itself.

That big free loop is neceesary to let the motor turn. Make sure you don't pinth the cable when you riase the motors. Otherwise, this has worked very well for me.

Last year I cut my shaft on my power drive so that the center of the prop is 12 - 18 inches in the water.  Now I don't have to cast around a big trolling motor head.
