Featured Replies

Just wondered if anyone out there has ever spliced thier transducer cable??? Its on the trolling motor so its not quite as critical as the console?

Eeeekk! Im sure it can be done but I wouldnt try it. Id just go out and buy a new transducer.

I've done it many times.  Just two connections to make, solder and then seal with liquid electrical tape or regular elect tape.

done it. its will be ok. just make sure you solder and make sure you seal it water tight.

Thanks for the inputs folks. I was told it wasn't a good idea, but if anyone should know it would be you folks that make this a great site. Going to fix it and test it out and save myself 64.00   Thanks

The first thing I do when I buy a new transducer is to cut the cable into. This is what happens and I don't know why, I have talked with Wilson who works for Lowrance and he didn't know either. Have you ever picked you trolling motor up out of the water and set it back in

and the depth finder wont read right away? This happened to me a lot,

so one day I bumped a pier and cut the cable into. I just skint the wires with my knife and twisted them back together and it worked fine.

I also noticed that when I lifted the TM out of the water and put it back

down the depth finder would start reading right away. Beats the heck out of me, but it works.

I tried it with an older Lowrance, but the wires were so tiny and delicate that they would break off at the slightest touch.  I just bought a new transducer.

I spliced mine on the fly one day...strap broke and the wire fell and got cut by the trolling motor bracket in the middle of a tournament...

It worked afterwards. It actually stayed that way for almost two months until I decided on a replacement.

I bought a new champion in 2000 and promply cut  the transducer cable .Spliced it back togather, electrical taped it . and then liquid rubbered it  [twice ] and its worked like new for seven seasons. The guys at the boat store said it was  best to buy a new cable  and transducer ,which I did , but never needed it......Just my .02 cents
