Falcon BuCoo SR for Keitechs?

Featured Replies

A guy I know has a new Falcon BuCoo he's selling. It's 7'2" med/heavy-mod. fast action. Falcon has it labels as their "swim jog" rod.

I've never used a Falcon before. How is their mod. fast? I read one review on TW that said their med/heavy or more like medium. Not sure how accurate that is or not.

I'd like to also use this rod for t-rigged Keitech's (3.8 & 4.3. Maybe 4.8 if possible). Is this feasible? Or should I stick with a MHF?

Falcon makes good rods. I have a heavy/fast sr that is more of a MH/mf. I like it. I would say that the  medium heavy you speak of is more of a heavy medium if that makes sense. I would say the taper is probably 70% backbone, 30% tip. They have very light/crisp tips. I think it would be a good rod for the swimbaits you have mentioned as long as you don't have too big Of a weight with them. Swimjigs I prefer a very stout jig hook and weed guard and like a powerful mh or even a heavy rod so it wouldn't be my first choice for that.

Yeah, the more I think about it it may not be ideal. Especially considering I like throwing a light underspin on my Keitechs from time to time.

It may sound crazy, but If you can get your hands on a 7'4 heavy Bucoo that is a sweet rod! I have thrown everything from spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, 3/8 jigs, swimbaits, and light carolina rigs with it. Very versatile stick.
