Hey y'all I recently acquired a Dobyns furry 705 CB and paired it up with a curado, but I just wasn't a huge fan of the curado and got rid of it. I've been looking at the Lews BB1 or BB1 pro to replace it and have been looking all over online to see the difference of the two and cannot make a decision. I've even found a couple of posts on here, but nothing really persuaded me.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys!

Love my original BB1 for cranking but if I had a choice I would get pro. Why? Because it has an external brake. I make adjustments to the brakes to compensate for casting in the wind and it would be so much easier if I didn't have to take the side plate off

Appreciate the input brotha, I know exactly what you mean. Hopefully will be stopping by a store with them after work tommorow to test them out.

I have a tournament pro and a bb1 pro. The bb1 pro has a larger footprint but I learned on Abu Garcia round reels so that is not an issue. I feel like the bb1 pro casts further. I like it, but I like the tournament pro better.

BB1Pro has an external brake. That's pretty much the difference. I would also point out that there is a new BB1Pro on the market. It's got the quiet-cast adjustable centrifugal brakes, which is a new addition to the BB1Pro, so if you've found one that is discounted, it might be the older version. I'd recommend either, to be honest, I've got 3 BB1s and I love them. (You could consider saving money and buying a BB1 if you don't need to be able to adjust your breaks on the fly). 

I have a bb1 and like it a lot for cranks. I also have 2 Lews tournament mb that I like way more. If your looking at Lews I suggest you take a look at the mb as well, it might not be what your after but I assure you it's worth a look.

I mean is the side plate a royal B to get off?

Not at all. I can adjust in about 10 seconds but since all my other reels have external brakes its annoying. I'm used to the convienence 

Yeah, i mean it's not hard, but the external adjustments are always going to be easier.
