Recently picked up a GLX 893c JWR. Was thinking of using it for small jigs and T rigs but I have other rods that could fill that slot. Looking for other uses for this rod. Thanks.

I have the 803c and use it for jigs and soft plastic.  If the 893c is anything like it, it wouldn't be my first choice for topwater especially with longer length.  I think you would be smacking the top of the water with a rod that long if your working a topwater bait.  I would think it would be great for flipping and pitching a medium sized jig or any t-rigged soft plastic that you want to have a soft presentation (creatures, beavers, lizards, etc.)

I have the NRX 893c, which is probably similar to the GLX, and I can confirm that it works for just about every technique, including topwaters. With a walking bait, you can twitch to the side, so the length isn't an issue.

 

The only appications I wouldn't use it for are crankbaits and dropshot.

I use a nrx 893 for weightless worms and light 1/8 oz weight texas rigged. It’s almost maxed out with 1/2oz weight on it. Would not make a good flipping rod. Unless you pitch tiny 1/4 oz jigs with no trailer, it is not the best jig rod either. It’s a light 3 power.
