Has anybody been doing any bank fishing in San Antonio?

Welcome aboard!

Lots of Texas folks here, someone will chime in soon.

I wish I could point out bank fishing spots. I don’t bank fish SA area.

i know there are some South Texas Facebook groups if you’re into that.

I live in SA but have always had a bass boat under me...

Crescent Bend, Lions Park Lake, Soil Conservation Sites (there's like 6 of 'em), The pond at Leon Creek, Elmendof Lake and Helotes Creek are some spots just to name a few... You will have to Google their locations.

I've never fished any of them personally because you can't put a boat in, but people are pulling out some decent catches from time to time and kayaks can get into most places.

Hope this helps.

Hey buddy, I live just outside of san antonio in the Schertz/Cibolo area. I don't have a boat or anything, so all my bass fishing is done from the bank. Like mentioned above, the are probably the most popular spots, a lot of my fishing is done on the Cibolo creek, a lot of good spots on there. And may be a little far for you, but Canyon lake has pretty good spots for fishing from the bank, some piers scattered around as well.

The dock on Cranes Mill Rd on Canyon Lake is really good for crappie in the spring, largemouths and stripers can be caught there too. There is a small bait shop on Cranes Mill Rd that sells shiners.

I'm not in San Antonio, I am in Houston, but I found a great little pond like 5 minutes from me just going on Google Maps and looking for bodies of water. I didn't even know if there was any fish in the pond, just went out and tried fishing it. It's become my favorite fishing pond and I am pretty sure I've caught my PB there; I do not have a scale so I didn't measure.

That would be my advice. It is pretty fun seeing if you can catch them in small urban spots.

I live in SA and you'd be surprised the number of spots (off the bank) that you can throw a line in at. Obviously its not going to be the same as from a boat but you still can have some fun. The River walk downtown, Medina, Canyon Lake (pic below)  plus most of the parks around here have creeks and small streams running through them. There's even a local bank fishing club that you can participate in. Send me a PM and I'll provide you with more details.. Good Luck!!

Pretty sure Ike's Fish My City is going to have a San Antonio episode. Be interested if you see some more anglers on the waters after it airs.
