Line twist

Featured Replies

So I have been bad line twist, line wrapping around the tip of my rod and line twisting up down by the reel. I’ve put the line on the correct way. I’m using a spinner bait when this happens. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

A little more info please; spinning or casting? Line type and # test?

Do you use a snap swivel or a swivel?

Nope

Nope

You need to, spinnerbaits spin and they will cause line twist issues.

Should I use a snap swivel or just a swivel? What about a leader?

Either one, you can use a leader but you still need a swivel.

Spinnerbaits spin? Only the blades spin with a spinnerbait, inline spinner can spin!

Tie direct using a spinnerbait.

10 lb mono is problematic with spinning reels depending on the line dia, anything over .010 has too much memory for spinning reels under 2500 or smaller size.

Spooling the line is critical,if it's spooled backwards it's a mess.

Using a mandrel (pencil ) the filler spool should be free to rotate with the line coming off the bottom of the spool to reduce line twist.
