Is it even allowed? Has anyone done this? I may wind up buying a new boat, I shall see. 

 

I'm looking specifically for a 1448 modified-V jon boat, with no center seat, 20" transom. So far no luck finding a used one. I think my chances of finding a used one are slim.

i think you would have to find a boat in the parameters you set then talk to the manufacturer.  You also may be able to look at some of the customer river jet boat builders as they seem to be able to make pretty much anything but as always, at a price.

I got my 1648 jon from a custom jet boat builder who finished off exactly the way I wanted. I may have paid a little more, but getting the boat I wanted was more important to me than the money. He is up in Michigan. Where are you located?

I'm about 20 miles west of Milwaukee. I Emailed Alumacraft but I haven't heard back yet. They will probably tell me I have to buy from a dealer.  

Y'all got no Tracker dealership? ?

I don't want to pay $900 more for the 1448 Tracker. 

Most of the guys who buy their river boats here order and buy direct as they want custom stuff. Unless they changed their policy, you can buy direct from Ranger too
