Kayakers, what type clothes do you wear in colder weather?
You guys are much braver than me. Once the water is too cold for me, I am done for the season. I don't want to die if I fall in !!

Question about "OMC Aluminum Boat Group"
Thanks. So it's not strange that the Coast Guard plate does not say Grumman? I'm waiting to hear back from the owner on why he thinks it's a Grumman. Maybe it says it on the registration card.

Question about "OMC Aluminum Boat Group"
I'm looking into a used 1448 jon boat. The owner thinks it's a 1996 Grumman. He sent me a pic of the Coast Guard plate, and under manufacturer it says "OMC Aluminum Boat Group, Lebanon, MO". It also says it's a 1448 model. It does not say Grumman on the plate. What is the scoop? Thanks.

Boat Positioning with Kayaks
Yes. The whole point of an anchor trolley is that you can position it anywhere from the bow to the stern.

Boat Positioning with Kayaks
An anchor trolley works great for positioning.

Stability of 1448 vs. 1648 flat jons
Thanks Catt. I'm looking at the Alumacraft jons, 1448 flat and mod-V, 20" transom. I'm still not sure if I want a center seat or not.

Stability of 1448 vs. 1648 flat jons
Thanks, I think !

Stability of 1448 vs. 1648 flat jons
Yes. Both would be 1448. I don't want to get a mod V if it's less stable than the flat bottom.

Stability of 1448 vs. 1648 flat jons
So lets say I'm out on a relatively calm lake. The flat jon would be a little more stable, correct? I'm talking about walking front to rear, standing and casting, etc. Thanks.

Stability of 1448 vs. 1648 flat jons
Thanks. Do you guys think there is much difference in the stability between a 1448MV and a 1448 flat jon? I don't know if I want a mod V.

Stability of 1448 vs. 1648 flat jons
Thanks. I will be using a trailer, but electric motors only. I didn't think the 2' difference would make much difference in the stability between the 2 boats.

Stability of 1448 vs. 1648 flat jons
I used to have a 1648 flat jon and I loved how stable it was. I'm looking into buying a 1448 flat jon, with no center seat. Would there be much difference in the stability of them? 90% of the time I fish alone. There would never be more than 1 other person in the boat. Being an old fart with back issues, I want a lighter weight boat, that will be easier to handle. Thanks.

Buying a new boat from out of state
Not an option.

Buying a new boat from out of state
I got an answer from the WI. DNR today. If I pay taxes to Indiana or any other state, I do not pay any tax to Wisconsin.

Buying a new boat from out of state
I'm confused. I never heard of this before.

Buying a new boat from out of state
Thanks. I'm waiting to hear what the dealer says.

Buying a new boat from out of state
I live in Wisconsin, and I'm considering buying a new boat and trailer from a dealer in Indiana. If I do this, would I have to pay sales tax to the Indiana dealer? Or just here in Wisconsin when I register it? I'm waiting for a reply from the dealer. Thanks.

Buying a boat directly from the manufacturer
Thanks. Are you talking about Alumacraft ?

Buying a boat directly from the manufacturer
I don't want to pay $900 more for the 1448 Tracker.

Buying a boat directly from the manufacturer
I'm about 20 miles west of Milwaukee. I Emailed Alumacraft but I haven't heard back yet. They will probably tell me I have to buy from a dealer.

Buying a boat directly from the manufacturer
Is it even allowed? Has anyone done this? I may wind up buying a new boat, I shall see. I'm looking specifically for a 1448 modified-V jon boat, with no center seat, 20" transom. So far no luck finding a used one. I think my chances of finding a used one are slim. Thanks.

Question about using a bow trolling motor
Thanks guys. I have a bad back also, so I always alternate between standing and sitting.

Question about using a bow trolling motor
First off, I've never used one(with a foot pedal). It seems like everyone that uses one uses a stand up seat. Is that a necessity? Is it too uncomfortable using a foot pedal while seated in a normal height seat? Thanks.

Pontoon boats
That sounds like a deck boat

Center seat or no center seat ?
That's exactly what I mean. I should have stated "center bench seat". I may pass on the boat with the center bench seat. Stepping over it numerous times would drive me nuts, or I'd fall and break my neck !
