  1. First choice would be a 5.5' and second choice a 6'. All the ones I'm seeing are 2 piece. I have a 1 piece Berkley Cherrywood ultralight I really like, but their light action is 2 piece. Budget about $40. Thanks.
  2. Very good deal. When I was looking for a used jet ski trailer, the prices were ridiculousy high.
  3. That's pretty heavy. I would use 2 dollies. One in the front and rear, and then just push it.
  4. What's your budget? You should buy the most powerful motor you can afford. 50 or 55 lb. The Minn Kota Endura Max are very nice. I've always had good luck with the deep cycle batteries from Walmart. A Group 27 battery would work well for you.
  5. I love the stand-up assist strap in my Frontier 12. One of these days you will appreciate the strap !!
  6. Add outriggers. Google "DIY Kayak outriggers".
  7. Never. You should have filmed it and put it on Youtube !!
  8. He doesn't need that anyway. He says he can stand up fine. Massrob, Does Wilderness Systems make a casting bar like Nucanoe and some others sell? That's what you need.
  9. Do you mean you are having trouble getting up from a seated position, or having trouble balancing once you are standing? Either way, it will get easier the more you do it. I don't fish while standing in my kayak, but I do use a stand-up assist rope/handle, which makes it much easier to stand from a seated position, and getting in and out of my kayak(Nucanoe Frontier 12).
  10. Enhance the experience? You mean eating them? It sounds like you're out of choices. Catch and Release !! I was going to insert a smiley face, but it won't let me.
  11. Sorry. I've never had the pleasure.
  12. Fishing at the dump. Every fisherman's dream. Were you able to shoot some rats too?
  13. I used to own the 8' Bass Raider, and it is super stable. BUT it was a real PITA if you cannot back up to the water. Heavy, very bulky and awkward. I doubt it would fit in the back of his SUV anyway. It's 48" wide.
  14. I'm sorry. I thought it was an 8' kayak.
  15. It would fit in the SUV, but he wouldn't fit in the kayak !!
  16. It's hard to say without knowing how much room you have in the SUV. Do the seats fold down? Any other info you can provide?
  17. A SOT is the best for fishing. I don't use mine if it's too cold though(water and air temp). I'm a wimp!!
  18. I use a 5 lb. barbell plate. I can't see ever needing a heavier one.
  19. Do you use an anchor trolley? If not, I recommend you do. I use a 5 lb. dumbbell plate, and it's always held my kayak just fine. It's also important to have enough anchor line out. I use at least 3 times the depth.
  20. What size/weight is your canoe? The 30 lb. sounds way too under powered. I use a 40 lb. model on my kayak.
  21. Nice. Is that the Subaru Outback? I'm considering the Outback for my next vehicle.
  22. Tight Lines, Ian Nice job. You still have to lift it pretty high though.
  23. I would sell both kayaks and buy a SOT kayak.
  24. Having owned a 10' and now a 12', I have to agree with Darren and the 11.5 footer. Like the old saying goes, "It's better to have more than not enough".
