  1. Tandems usually lead to divorce !!
  2. Does anyone use this extension handle with a Minn Kota Endura Max motor? I want to make sure it will fit over my Endura Max tiller handle. I notice the MK tiller handle is thicker than the older Minn Kota motors used to be. How do you like this product? Thanks. http://www.amazon.com/HelmsMate-Tiller-Extension-U-Joint-Extendable/dp/B0000AXZOJ
  3. Hated it is probably a little strong. I mounted it on the front casting deck, and it and the wire always seemed to be in the way. And I had to steer the motor by hand anyway, so it really didn't add any convenience. I used a transom model trolling motor, with the head reversed, on the bow.
  4. Nucanoe has a forum you can check out.
  5. Thanks. I used one of those when I had my jon boat and I hated it.
  6. That doesn't help me. The kayak would just tow me around the lake !!
  7. That's always the best way to decide. When you test the Frontier though, make sure it has the same seating position(height) that you will use if you buy it. I brought my swivel boat seat and attached it to the seat base of the Frontier when I got to the dealer.
  8. I have the Nucanoe Frontier 12' and I occasionally use a transom mount trolling motor. I'd like to rig up a simple way to kill the motor, if I ever fell out with motor on. I was thinking of using alligator clips(like the Minn Kota motors used to come with), drilling a hole in one of them, and attaching a rope or lanyard to it. The other end would attach to my vest. If I fell out, the clip would be pulled off the battery post, killing the motor. Does this sound like it would work? Does it matter if I attach to the pos. or neg. cable? Thanks.
  9. The Lure 11.5 was my second choice, but the closest dealer was at least 5 hours away, so I passed. It tracks very well, but it's a slow to average paddle. It's 41" wide !! I didn't buy it to speed around. I bought it to fish. I feel comfortable standing in it for a short time to stretch my back, but not to fish.
  10. I have the 12' Frontier, and I really like it. I bought it last spring. The best thing about it is the versatility. It uses a track system for 1 or 2 seats and accessories. You can use ANY boat seat, and swivel 360 degrees. Has a square transom for a trolling motor, or up to a 2.5 hp gas motor. I use a 40 lb. thrust trolling motor sometimes, depending on the size of the lake, and it works great. CONS: Don't believe all the hype about it being the most stable kayak out there. It is not. It takes a while to get used to the tippyness. This is due to the higher center of gravity when using the rigid seat base. With the standard rigid seat base, the top of my seat is 13" above the floor. I just received the new "Low" rigid seat base, which is 2" lower, which should make it less tippy. You can also use a standard kayak seat, and have a much lower seating position if you want.
  11. I also use a kayak, the Nucanoe Frontier 12'. Stable and very versatile. What sold me on it was the square motor-ready transom, the track system allows the seats(1 or 2) to be placed where you want, and you can use any swivel seat(allowing 360 degree fishing). They sell 3 different height seat bases also, giving you many options.
  12. It's definitely worth trying. I would check on the return policy though, just in case.
  13. That's a nice rig. Is the 2X4 for a trolling motor?
  14. I've had the Frontier 12' since June and I really like it. BUT it is tippy when using the rigid seat base and a boat seat. It's due to the high center of gravity. The top of my seat is 13" above the floor. It took me 5 or 6 times out to get used to the tippyness. I needed the elevated seat for my mistake back, and the motor ready transom. If I didn't need those 2 features, I would have bought something else. It tracks very well, but it is heavy. I sometimes use a 40 lb. Endura Max on it(depends on the size of the lake I'm fishing).
  15. Thanks guys. I wound up blocking it up under the frame, with the tires a few inches off the ground. I'm waiting for wheel covers to arrive I ordered from Walmart.
  16. Thanks guys. This is a 4' X 8' utility trailer I converted for kayaks, using wood. Do you see any problem if I cover it with a tarp?
  17. I'm thinking of removing my trailer's wheels and blocking up the trailer for the winter. Is there a problem doing this? If not, should I wrap something around the hubs to protect from snow, etc? What should I use? I don't want to use something that will cause the hubs to rust. Thanks.
  18. What do you mean by "don't use constant"? My kayak is the Frontier 12' with a 40 lb. thrust trolling motor. I have the battery in the front of kayak.
  19. Thanks. Is yours attached to the positive or negative cable?
  20. If I do this, I would use some sort of tether, like they have on treadmills, etc. Thanks all for your input.
  21. WIGuide, thanks very much. It makes sense to me now.
  22. I'm not using alligator clips, but I can change them. What type of hookup to the alliagtor clip are you thinking of? Thanks.
  23. I'd like to install a kill switch for the trolling motor on my kayak, in case I fell out while it was running. The simpler, the better. The motor is a Minn Kota 40 lb. Endura Max, with a Group 24 battery. Thanks.
