Issue with garmin striker 7sv?

Featured Replies

Anyone else have an issue with their unit where the transducer is not recognized? It was working well, and now when the unit starts it says the transducer is disconnected. Power down and check transducer connector to enable sonar. I've received a 2nd y cable from Garmin support, but still same issue.

Are you pushing the cable into the unit as far as it will go? Mine has done the same as yours a couple times but powering the unit off and pushing the cable in tighter resolved the issue.

Yup. Pushed in as far as it will allow me.

Funny that i can plug the sidevu cable into the xdcr sonar slot, and it doesn't complain....but of course then my graph is all wack at that point.

Garmin is having me send them the transducer for warranty work.

Even in the perfect world, there is always going to be a certain percent of failures, it can't be avoided.  Xducer or unit may have failed.

For four years back in the late 70's - Early 80's, I did warranty repairs for most Japanese Stereo brands sold to the Armed Forces in northern Italy and they were happy to keep their failure rates below 10%

I am not familiar with Garmin sonar units or the type of connectors used.

If your problem is poor connection try using DeoxIT D5 contact spray. I use Deoxit on all my electrical and electronic contacts to enhance performance.
