  1. I fish Lipless in the spring, fall and early winter with fall being the most productive. I’ve caught them on various retrieves but the 6 or so bass I’ve caught between 5 and 8 pounds with a lipless I was using a straight retrieve around structure.
  2. For worms 7’0 MH Kistler Helium 3 7’0 Diawa Tatula Elite AGS M/MH for jigs Daiwa 7’3 MH Zillion Diawa 7’2 H Steez
  3. It’s still under warranty. I’d send it to Daiwa.
  4. I’ve been using a pencil to spool my reels for 30 years. Works really well for me
  5. Costa green mirror glass lenses.
  6. I’ve had good experiences with Japantackle as well as numerous other Dealers in Japan. I’ve got a bunch of JDM reels and never paid a customs tax.
  7. I bought the 7’3 MH and have been using it for T rigs and 3/8 jigs and I love this rod. Feels just as sensitive as my Steez.
  8. No, I’m my experience the Shimano’s loose there smoothness faster than the Daiwa’s I’ve owned.
  9. Black and Blue Jigs and trailers. I catch more bass on a jig than anything else but have never caught one on Black/Blue.
  10. I held both of them of them in the store and the Vanford was much lighter, so I went with it. I had to change the way I hold the rod though due to the shorter stem.
  11. I’ve always gotten several years out of Everstarts
  12. I believe the Alphas is the same frame size as the Tatula 70 and 80. It’s a little smaller than the Zillion. It’s a really compact reel.
  13. Daiwa Alphas Sv 800 is hard to beat for the price. Can be ordered from Japan off of Amazon for 156 right now
