Keel guard adhesive

Featured Replies

I've got about a foot long section of the guard coming loose at the bow end. I think that is strange as thar part never comes in contact with anything.

In any event, I'm thinking of using some EZ Flex rubberized sealant that I have in the shop to fix it.

Anyone have any experience/success using this product?

Before I tried anything I would call the manufacturer and see what they recommend or if they would give you a discount on a replacement.

I had about a foot of keel guard come loose on my Tracker. I used 3M 5200 and cut 2x4s to hold it in place. After that dried I ran a bead of clear Marine Silicone around the edge.

Marine Goop is what is recommended by burley pro for their keel guard.

Marine Goop would be my choice as well. Applying mine I used heavy duty thick cardboard and straps until dry. Silicone caulk around the edge shouldn’t be necessary if using the Marine Goop brand as it’s a waterproof sealant.

Okay guys. Thanks for the responses, however, I wasn't looking for suggestions on adhesives/sealants. I'll soon be 80 and have owned boats for 60 years and I'm aware of a bunch of suitable products that will do the job. Also, at 80, I've got a shop full of products acquired over time that I would like to find uses for. Hence, my post specifically asked if anyone had successfully used the EZ Seal product to repair a keel guard.

Ok got it.

No on the EZ flex

Even if you were specific in capital letters you would get the same kind of responses. You make a post you open the door.

Why fix if it’s covered by a lifetime warranty? I was pro staff for KeelShield and if it ever came loose, we sent you a new one. Hambys light duty also has a warranty as does Megaware. Hambys heavy duty is a dealer install and is glassed in. If it comes loose it is guaranteed but needs to go back to a dealer for install.
