5 Gear ratio reels Japan?

Featured Replies

Looking for recommendations on a good 5:1 gear ratio cranking reel. It doesn't have to be a current model or even a U.S. model—just something that's proven and feels solid in hand. I'm mainly looking for reels that are smooth under load, comfortable to fish all day, and hold up over time for medium and deep cranking.

A few I've considered are the Abu Garcia Revo Winch Fishing Baitcast Reel Right Hand Retri, DAIWA TATULA TW 150P BAIT CASTING REEL, and older Shimano Curado models, but I'm open to anything.

What are some 5:1 reels you've used that you wouldn't hesitate to buy again? Looking for reels that have that "wow, this thing feels good" factor when grinding crankbaits all day.

IMO these 3 reels are great for all day cranking , (the Steez is 5:3:1) finding them new may prove difficult, but used ones occasionally pop up on the internet.

Shimano Curado K 200/201 PG(5:0:1)

Daiwa Catalina (4:9:1)

Diawa Steez A Crazy Cranker

Shimano Calcutta Conquest 100/101....I have yet to find anything that is as bullet proof as this reel and at the JDM price, it's hard to beat. It's small and easy to palm, cast effortlessly, and can handle just about anything you through at it.
