I can get both of these models for pretty cheap right now and am looking for a jig rod. Which one would you pick for just a all around jig rod? mostly casting on points and ledges but some fishing around docks.

Man, I hate when rod makers put labels on rods like this. What exactly are you looking for in a rod?

Just an all around rod for jigs, I want to be able to fish in a little bit heaver cover but would also like to fish with some jigs around rocks, humps, points...etc

I don’t know exactly what rods you are looking at, but judging by the specs it looks like either would be fine for what you want to do. I prefer shorter rods so I’d go with the 7’1”.

I have a couple of the original Tatula series rods and like the 7'2" HF as my jig rod so I think either would work well for you. I'm partial to longer rods so 7'3" would be my choice. 7'1" would probably be better for close quarters dock fishing if you thought you'd be doing that a lot.

The 7'1" Montgomery is a jig rod, the 7'3" Omori maybe a crankbait rod based on the signatures.

Based purely on advertised lure rating Id go with the pitching rod.

 

You could finesse and punch with it lol.

Depends on the weight of the jigs you plan on throwing the most. The longer rods, per its lure rating, will likely have a tad lighter lure sweet spot.
