Hey guys still thinking about which new rod/combo to get and and now looking at the new Orochi line that dropped. If I was just to get one rod in the time being, for applications such as texas rigs, jigs and pitching light cover, what would you guys recommend? I am leaning towards the brailist but there is also the EMTF and perfect pitch models that seem applicable. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Seams there are 2 camps for MB.....lovers and haters.  I have 2, a FMJ and flatside special and have been happy with both and have my fingers crossed they don't  snap like so many others.......good friend included!

Of what your looking at, the Braillist would get my call, but knowing what I know now, would look to other manufacturers with a history of consistency in manufacturing and CS.

.....just one guys opinion

I thought that only the Destroyers had widespread issues with their blanks snapping. Its also a problem with the Orochi's?

When did the Destroyers get a reputation for breaking?  I know some of the old models had a stinger tip and they are fragile, but I never read much about general durability issues.

To be fair, I was going off forum posts and tacklewarehouse reviews which are going to be inherently skewed either direction. But I really have no other way of getting information like that unless I make a separate thread. I've just seen through those that some of the higher power Destroyer blanks seem to have an issue with breaking.

I bought a new destroyer in 2014  black jungle F5-71XBJ classified as deep cranking & slow rolling. Broke the first time out on 3.5lb smallie just after the hook set about 3 guides down from the tip. My first & only megabass rod. They dropped the retail price by $100 the next year which didn't make me overly happy with my decision either.

Base your choice on the weight of what you’ll be throwing and the cover you’ll be around. I have a 1st gen perfect pitch and I’ll never let it go.

I’ve got a rack full of first gen Orochi XX, and two 2017 US Destroyers. Knock on wood no issues with breakage on any yet and been very happy with them.

Ive no hands on experience with the gen 2 Orochi XX rods yet and seems they handle different them the first gen from what I’ve read. Obvious choice would be the Braillist.

My gen 1 Diablo can actully be used to casting and pitching up the 3/8 jigs and trigs, super versatile. Not sure how comparable the new version is though.

Good luck on your choice.
