Dobyns Fury?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a frog/flipping rod, morning frog, afternoon flip, torn between 735 or 765 wanted your opinion. Thanks!!!!

Personally I like a longer rod but it depends on your size. I'm 5'9 and use a 7'6 with ease.

Torn about throwing a frog with 7'6",but 765 I can go up to 2 oz on my lure vs 11/2 oz on 735

I personally didn’t like frogging on my 7’6” as much as I do my 7’4” which would make me lean a little more towards the 735c. That’s all personal preference though. I made it work till I bought my 7’4” frog rod

735.

That's what I was leaning towards seems I'll be able to flip and frog easier

I also prefer frogs on a 7'3 rod but for flipping I used to use a 7'6 (until my rod broke).

I recently bought a fury 735 for frogs, and pitching and I really like it. I have only caught two fish on it so far, but I can tell it’s going to serve me well. My uncle has one as well and he told me he likes it for the bigger whopper ploppers and I can see how it would be good for that too.

I would personally prefer a rod around 6'10" or less to walk the frog with. For other lures I might throw on it, something around 7'6" so I would think the 735C should be a happy median.

I have 2 735's. One for frogs and buzzbaits the other for pitching 3/4 ounce jigs.

The Fury 735 was my first Dobyns Rod, I liked it so much I bought another.

It's an excellent frog rod, and the first longer than 7' rod I actually like for frogging.
