2019 POWELL MAX

Featured Replies

I have a couple of the 2005 Max rods and really like them. I think I'll be upgrading next year.

From their 2019 catalog...

These look nice! Not sure why they ever changed up the original line, those were great rods

The most sensitive rods in their price range. Not sure why they didn’t upgrade the hood on the grip?

I hear you. I'm still looking forward to the new MAGs.

Have one of their last models. I love it, but hate the proprietary reel seat because of the hood. It wasn’t letting me seat my reel close enough to my hand, and had to take a file to it.

But it with a Fuji reel seat, I’ll definitely buy a new one. The one I have is so well balanced and sensitive.

I have an original Powell Max 683CEF.  Man that is about the closest thing to a swiss army knife. It is used for lots of techniques. I love it.

The catalog doesn’t list a price yet.

Previous models were $159 MSRP, but frequently on sale for $99-130. The SiC guides and Fuji seat will add some cost.

Only 3 spinning rods in the line up...curious about that decision.

I would like to see the diesel come back that was a great rod for that price.

Got my eyes set on the 7'3" Mag-Medium-Heavy.

Bump, not much new info out there. Maybe a classic release? I've been big on megabass and Dobyns for a while but think I'm gonna grab the frog model. I had the original and often kick myself for selling it
