Tons of ponds and trout fishing on the peninsula.  Not much of a trout guy.  Out east near potholes is a much better bass scene.  Have you been to American lake and any of the other bigger lakes currently in your area.  I lived on the peninsula and it was not what I was looking for.

Boise Idaho is growing and surrounded with lakes and Lake Pend Oreille area has lots of good choices.

Probably depends on what your job is going to be and how far you want to drive.  Also...do you fish for everything or is your aim salt or fresh or Bass's or Slime rocket variety's??

Lot's and lots of options....

I live in Spokane too, honestly if you're staying in Washington, you'll be hard pressed to find a better bass fishing area here. We have so many lakes so close and in close proximity, it's only two hours to the tri cities and the smallie Mecca that is the Columbia River, lake CDA is only 25min drive, potholes/Moses lake is hour and a half, long lake is 20min, p.o. river and lake are an hour and a half. The dozens and dozens of smaller lakes that are within half an hour drive. Find better than that up here and please let me in on the secret haha

I always thought somewhere southwest of Salem Oregon might be decent. No idea about the quality of bass fishing there, but there are quite a few lakes to fish and you can get to the ocean as well and it's a reasonable drive to lakes in Northern California which are supposed to have mondo bass.

One of my life goals is to someday visit and fish at Crater Lake and the park streams as well, although there are no bass only trout and salmon there.

The only other fishing I would say is better than here in eastern wa, for the PNW area, would be the Oregon coast, in my opinion of course. Tons of awesome trout fishing, salmon, crabbing, shellfish, and you have the ocean, not so great on bass. Plus the Oregon coast is amazing in its self.
