Featured Replies

Been looking at a new reel around the 140$ range and saw this. Small company, looks nice, but no reviews. If anyone has input, It be nice if you could say something. Thanks and have a nice day

It looks like bassanglermag has an article on the reels, but I can't get it to open up on my laptop.  ☹️

I'm pretty sure I read this a month ago or so. I think they took it down or they're website cant open It for whatever reason. Thanks again!

Save $30 and get the Daiwa Tatula CT Typer-R at Tackle Warehouse. It's on sale at $75 discount. $104.99 will get it.

It's an aluminum framed version of a $30 Chinease reel.  You might as well just set the $140 on fire.

Kastking also make a version of this crap.... seen them everywhere with about a dozen different names on em'

Nathan,

What are the weaknesses of this reel compared to the Daiwa?

The Fitzgerald reel was on my radar, too. I had to pass after a lack of reviews.

Huge. Inferior braking system.  Chinease.

So if braking was not a huge concern, what else would you say they fail at.   Is Thailand always the better choice than China?

This is not the case of no news is good news. At that price point there are so many great reels. A new reel at that price point would really need to stand out.

This reminds me of another company that made primarily rods and tried to branch out into reels. It wasn't pretty.

What were they thinking! Everyone knows first you make bicycle parts, then you make reels, then you make rods, and then you buy the high end rod line, Jeez!...

A good way to evaluate anything is resale value.

I was referring to Favorite rods not Shimano. But I get the point. :laughing7:

not to mention that whole curado, chronarch E, G, period of nonsense.

Size.  The reel is very large.  I would rather my reel have been designed by the likes of Daiwa or Shimano with quality parts fit for a $140 reel and made in a Daiwa or Shimano run and owned plant in southeast asia than have a reel that was designed and built in China as a $30 with $30 reel parts sold to me as  a $140 reel branded as [yournamehere].

I am trying to understand your train of thought here.  Are you expressing an answer as a matter of personal preference or a side by side comparison either done by yourself or information gathered from other reviews.   Would it not  be possible for a company to request certain specifications be a part of their purchase order?

I get the point you're making but using that same logic would that not also make a chronarch  an upgraded caenan?

That was my train of thought. There’s too many reels with proven track records to justify taking a chance on one with zero reviews.

There's a reel for every hand.

There's a seat for every butt.

And, apparently there's an idiot for every painting.......

Son won a Stunner at a tournament in October 2018. Its already loose inside (can hear rattling) and crank handle is tightened all the way but still moves side to side. Looks and feels just like a Piscifun I bought my 7 year old nephew for 30$. Would not buy one if I had to.

Welp that's settled

For a 140$ pitching reel with braid what would be a good reel?

Get a Lew’s Tournament MB on sale for $100 or lower and don’t look back.

That reel fits in the palm nicely and has some bells and whistles of much more expensive reels.

I just picked up a couple of these, and they do feel like a fantastic little reel. Fits in the hand quite nicely and feels like a very smooth reel for the price.

I was surprised by how tiny the reel was when mine was delivered yesterday. Looks like a nice reel for the money. I ordered one on eBay during the 10% promo bucks so in the end it was only $82. Lews has some good bang for the buck it looks like.

I got the Tatula ct type r that Big Rick suggested in 8:1, at $104 it’s hard to beat. It’s on my jerkbait rod but it would be excellent for pitching as well. I have a regular Tatula on my pitching rod and I really like it but the smaller frame of the ct type r might be even better.

Thank you guys for the suggestions! Yeah I'm thinking a tournament mb, a tatula ct, or a sale reel. I'm not getting it right now, probably sometime in February. I might have a bigger budget than I think so I might get a custom speed spool, a reg tatula, a sx, or citica. Thanks again you guys!                                                                                                                                                                                               p.s.- I was also thinking a duckett 320, anyone know if they're any good? My 300 I got for Christmas feels pretty good. And I got my pitching reel so now it would preferably be a cranking/jerkbait reel
