Some old tackle porn

Recommended Posts

I had a chance to make the trek down to my brothers today to check out his fishing tackle collection. I didn't have a whole lot of time so we didn't get a chance to go thru all of it. He had another 25 tackle boxes and a couple more storage crates of stuff still.

Here's a few of the interesting looking ones I photo'd. Not sure about what time frame they're from but they look older.

This one has a cool look to it. Would be interesting to see it in action.

That's a 2120 series Crazy Crawler, depending on the type hook hanger it could be 1940's. Don't fish it, display it. As far as the Meadow Mouse goes, the ones in my collection have glass eyes and date 1930's. Your mouse looks like it has tack eyes.

I have some old lures but only one in a box , a Shakespeare mouse  . I have a spinner with a baseball emblem on it from Spalding .

There my brothers from his personal collection. He's saving them for his retirement fund. He doesn't even bass fish anymore. He lives down by the ocean so he goes out there and goes up to Bishop to trout fish once in a while.

Did they use tack eyes before glass eyes? You think maybe it was home made?

Guess I could do another round of lures. I think these are the last of the boxed ones I photo'd that I can post for now. I do have one last photo of a couple of really special ones I'm saving for later.

Dropped photos just like the 1st post? Showing links on my end so may need to click on them to see?

Looks like the proverbial bait monkey has been around for a long time. He's got hundreds of lures that are out of boxes that look to have been never fished.

I think he's got enough lures to open his own tackle shop. He's paranoid his family will sell them off for pennies on the dollar if he kicks the bucket so he started doing a inventory of what he's got. Some of them have price tags on them while others just have a piece of paper in the old tackle box's with the value as a whole.

I think I would rather break off than have to manage unhooking 5 treble hooks from a fish!  I already get pretty queasy every time I hook a fish on a 3-treble jerkbait or similar.  5 trebles is just reckless!

Crazy isn't it. Not sure how long the 5 trebles lasted for the reasons you stated. Would be a nightmare for sure to unhook or even handle a feisty bass.

Here's another strange one which has no markings on it at all. From the top it's shaped like a catfish but the paint scheme looks like a trout.
