Tatula 100 vs. SLX as a "workhorse" reel

Featured Replies

The 100's are some of the smoothest Tatulas I own. I had a SLX and SLX XT , both got geary feeling pretty quick. Tatula 100's and CT's remain smooth. Just my experience.

Like somebody mentioned above the 100's can be had for around $110.

My brother was describing this last night. His SLX is a year old. The 3rd greasing with ACE did nothing to change it.

My SLX is the same way, you can hear it from the back of the boat- and like his mine has nothing to do with improper lubrication nor abuse.

What is it with the newer Shimano platforms getting geary feeling?  Met, Curado I, Curado 70, Chronarch Ci4+ and now the SLX.  The current Chonarch and Curado K seem to be OK r-right?  I've been holding off on adding any modern Shimanos to my arsenal until this issue was fixed.  I had assumed this was in the past and newer platform were immune.

On my I it wasnt the gears but the pinion bearing. After greasing that good it was smooth again.
