Just received some old wiggle warts off ebay and was looking for advice on how to repaint these without an air brush.

Don't, either get an airbrush and do it yourself, or pay to have someone do it for you.  Acrylic paints go on way to thick with brushes in my opinion.   Might be able to do a descent job with rattle cans.  Many people will re-paint them for you for about 8 dollars each as long as you don't want anything too crazy.

 

@Heartlanddo you have any recommendations? I have 3 swimbait lures that I want custom paint. I don’t want anything crazy just crappies looking bait.

Jen Kravassi Jekyll bait Co. , Lure me In custom painted crankbaits.  Tons of others but these a two very good ones.

It can be done with brushes but it is far easier if the paint is projected on by airbrush or similar means. 

 

This is doesn’t mean it can’t be done by hand and brush. Most of the baits I made and painted were done by hand brush, but it was all I had to use. You can always thin acrylics so paint thickness should not be a show stopper to anyone with sufficient determination. 

BR has some members who can do good work with crankbaits.

Several years ago I met PIZZ Custom lures at the BAT in Anaheim and had them paint a couple of Triple Trout swimbaits for me that worked very good. 

Not cheap but excellent workmanship.

I have a buddy here in Pittsburgh that does custom painting for a living. He's currently in route to Knoxville as we speak for the Classic. He's got a booth and is selling custom painted baits at the event (including a few warts that a few pro's ordered from him). He specializes in wiggle warts. I've probably had him paint over three dozen pre-rap Warts for me over the past few years.

When it comes to Pre Rapala warts there's 2 guys I trust. Tim Hughes (Hughes Custom) baits here on Table Rock and Mike Russell of Bag Five baits in Benton KY.

old used Wiggle Warts are usually pricey.  If I didn’t have the equipment and skill to airbrush them, I’d send them to a pro painter.  They do great work and use great finishes that allow your old Warts to look and act like new.  And it’s not all that expensive.  But if you’re too cheap to do that, just put some new trebles on them and fish them.  They will catch bass just as well as they did when new.
