Just retired and bought a boat again, wanting to upgrade the fishfinder.

I am new to the game again so I am as green as can be when it comes to what I need or want.

If you had a budget of $800, what would you buy, just wanting to be able to find structure and fish

A lot of guys will also recommend a Humminbird, IMO both are good brands, I've just never used a HB.

I will second that, I currently have the total scan transducer with side and down scan on my Lowrance elite 7 ti . its a learning curve but watching youtube videos has helped me learn. The Lowrance Elite 7 is a bit small so if you could pocket the upgrade to the elite 9 you will probably be more pleased. Definitely would recommend it.

Don’t forget Garmin. Good units and very user friendly. 

 

You really cant go wrong with any unit. Best thing to do is do your research and learn what options are out there. The better you educate yourself the more comfortable you’ll be with your purchase.
