Flipping, jigging and frogging rods

Featured Replies

Looking for a new rod that would be good for flipping, jigging and frogging looking for something around $100. Any advice.

13 omen in either medium heavy or heavy action. Either rod with a fast tip. Depending on how heavy of cover you may want to stick with a heavy action rod. What weight jigs do you plan to fish

Anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2

First off, do you mean pitching? Or will you actually be flipping?  They are two different techniques and preferably use two different rods.

Also,  medium heavy and heavy refer to rod power,  not action.  Action would be:

Fast

Moderate fast

Moderate

etc.

Not ranting,  but words have meaning.

Dobyns Fury 735C $119

I have two. One with 30lb braid and a 7.3:1 reel used for pitching and light flipping 5/16 - 1 oz jigs and t-rigged plastics.

The other with 50lb braid, an 8.1:1 reel that's used for frogging, and pitching and flipping heavier cover where I need the bigger line.

They are powerful enough for the thickest of covery, yet nimble enough for all around use. It's one of the best "all purpose" heavy cover rods I have ever had.

I do get confused I am fairly new to fishing and still trying to learn the ins and out and terminology. What would be the difference between flipping and pitching

7'3 Heavy Lews tp-1 speed stick. Best rod in the price range in my opinion
