Big Topwater Rods

Featured Replies

I need 2 topwater rods, one for baits like the whopper plopper so 1 to 1.5oz then one for 2.75oz plugs. For regular sz plugs like many I throw a M F action rod, but when moving up to these weights and heavier action rods I'm thinking Mod-Fast action? Tell me your thoughts n what your using. Thanks

Dobyns fury 795 swimbait rod is what I use for wakebaits and magnum top waters. Generally the baits I throw on this rod are 2-3oz.

I throw the plopper 110 on a dobyns 736 cb glass. I keep fish hooked on this rod better than any others I’ve tried so far. I don’t throw the 130 much, but it will handle it as well. 130 is the largest bait is throw on it.

Yea I figured a graphite CBR Mod-Fast would b the ticket.

Dobyns Fury?

795 Fury is probably what you're after. It's a surprisingly nice rod for the price.

If you want to spend serious scratch, Megabass has a few rods that would excel in the areas you mentioned. I would be thinking Black Jungle Power Versatile or Destroyer Faust.
