I'm looking for some sort of storage container that will hold 4 or so dye or scent bottles.  I have considered just using a Tupperware or a freezer baggie but I'm concerned about the intense garlic smell as well as spillage and want something that will keep the smell in my boat storage to a minimum.  Just curious what some of you guys are using that works well to keep the scent down and prevent any spillage on your carpets.  Most of what I have is in the small bottles that are about the size of a large pill bottle.

I have a small, square plastic container with a rag in the bottom for JJ's.  It holds four bottles perfectly.  It's one of those lid attached, so I don't lose.  Most grocery stores sell something like it.

Heads up - the more you worry about spilling dye on your boat carpet the sooner it is going to happen.  I understand your concern about leaks though, and I'm not big on wasting soft plastic dye by spilling it and dyeing my carpet.

What I did was go to Walmart and find the smallest Rubbermaid container that will work - put the dye bottles in that and then put the Rubbermaid box in a gallon zip lock bag.  Have a level place in your boat bin to put the plastic bag encased box.

Perfect, thanks for the info guys.  I'll probably go the same route with the Rubbermaid/Tupperware type container.  And you're right trees, it's the same as when I'm eating while wearing a white shirt.  As soon as I think about being careful to not get something on my shirt I immediately drop barbecue or ketchup or something right on my shirt.  I'm not too much worried about spilling it while using it on accident though, mostly like you said just leakage when it's in storage.

Have you looked at the small watertight ammo box's? They'd probably hold them all and keep the smell down to a minimum.

No, honestly I hadn't even considered that.  I already have a ton of them laying around anyways maybe I'll give that a whirl first.  Thanks for the great suggestion!

I use this. I only open the bottles & dip in the tray, so it isolates drips & spills to the container.

Obvious question but I have to ask.  One of the reviews states that JJ's doesn't fit.  I'm guessing that's not your experience?

When I used to use bottled dips and dyes I placed each one into their own ziplock baggie. Those baggies went into a Tupperware container with a screw lock lid. Double protection right there.

 

Another tip is I always poured out half or more of the dip or dye into another jar. No sense having a full bottle of dye with you as I can't see anyone needing that much on one trip. That way if there is an accident it's not as much spilled.

It's tight, but fits. I wish they all fit as tight so I don't have to grab the jar while opening.

I think you may be talking about the height. Yes, it does bulge the lid a bit, but not to where I can't latch it. I thought about just getting one of the deep trays like the Flambeau 9000 series and cutting my own foam. For that matter you could use one of the small plastic totes from Walmart...

The dye boxes available were nice, but they didn't work for my situation so I made my own.  It is a fairly small container, so it doesn't take up much room.  The front two slots are for Scent appliers (Fish Sticks), I like to keep them upright so that if they get too warm, they don't melt all over the place.  The middle spot is for a paint container while the back two spots are for dye.  I made the holes for the dye a little too large, so I wrapped some duct tape arounds them so they fit snug.  I made a small channel on one side for dye markers.  I keep a couple of paper towels inside to clean baits after dyeing and am able to do all of the dyeing in the container to avoid spills on the carpet.
