Stripping Shimano Stradic Ci4 Help

Featured Replies

When you take the spool off what sz is the set screw that takes the black gear off the spindle? Is it a hex or torx? Its really small and my eyes are shot lol. Thanks

I believe it's a hex.

I dont have a hex that small but was able to use a tiny flat head screw driver to unscrew and screw it back.

Mine wasn't under a lot of tension.

Nobody? I'm sure guys in here take these apart. I have to order a wrench so I need the exact sz. Thanks

I have a CI4+ so I'm sure it is the same. It is a hex. It is a .9mm Here is the hex driver I use for my reel. It is made by Wiha. See pic below

No Problem, always willing to help. One thing I will say on this  set screw is this. The set screw is about 3/16" long, so no need to tighten it down. Just snug will do, otherwise you will strip out the hex in the set screw.

Thanks @cadman.  I was about to post the same :P

Also, don't forget that the rotor nut is reverse threaded.
