Enigma Rods

Featured Replies

I searched the forum but couldn't really find anything relatively recent on them. What are your thoughts on Enigma rods? Not so much interested in their reels but have been curious about their rods since they debuted but haven't pulled the trigger. I seen they have discontinued the Aaron Martens line and those seemed to have good reviews. Any thoughts on the company would help me in deciding to purchase one.

I see TW dropped Aaron's signature series and carries the Tournament series. The Micro Wave guide system never took off with bass anglers who prefer traditional guides. Rods like Dobyns Fury are more popular with good customer service.

Handled some (HPT, I believe) at a show and was impressed enough that I very nearly made an impulse buy.  Can't tell you how they fish, but I felt that for the price, the HPT line was very solid.  They were displaying a lot more models than the few on TW.  I especially liked the handle on the drop shot rod - most drop shot rods I have and have looked at have a longer handle than I like.  HPT had a nice, compact split handle that didnt compromise balance and that would have been perfect for yak fishing.

I have a few HPTs casting and spinning. They fish very well from my experience. Only thing that bums me out is I paid $150 for my HPTs and now they are $110. I’ll def get more for that price.
