gas/oil mix

Recommended Posts

I have an old school engine. I usually mix the gas and oil in the gas can and then pour it in the boat gas tank. In an emergency, is it best to pour oil in the boat tank first and add gas or vice versa. Maybe it does not matter?

You want it "mixed". I would add the oil first.

Pour the gas in second causes a stirring action   :)

I must confess I do the opposite. I fill the tank with fuel first then I can look at the gas pump to determine how much fuel I added and add oil accordingly. I always leave room at the top of the tank for the fuel to swish around.

I rely on the drive to the ramp to mix the fuel and oil. It's about 30 miles to Lake Erie so it gets mixed good.
