I recently created a thread for best line for spinning rod and reel. Many recommended Yo-Zuri Hybrid, I’m gonna give that a try in 8lb. I have two setups a baitcaster and a spinning. Kinda left them both sitting around for a few years sense I stopped fishing for a bit. Tearing all line off and re-spooling each. So now my question is what is the best line for a baitcaster setup? I’m thinking of 10-12lb for my baitcaster.

Using it for a hollow body frog in thick weeds wouldn't be about as different an answer than using it for a squarebill as can be...........

30 or 40 lb braid, I prefer Sufix 832

I throw a lot of senkos and swimbaits. Sometimes jigs with a trailer. But pretty much the main basic stuff. And I mostly fish lakes.

I heard good things about braid especially 832, never really been too into it myself though. Maybe will give this a try. 

Any other suggestions I know there has to be a bunch out there.

30lbs Sufix 832 for general use.

 

65lbs Sufix 832 for punching. 

A Senko and a swimbait is a huge swing..........I use 30 lb braid for plastics, also for smaller swimbaits.  
I only have swimbaits up to an ounce so I can't comment on bigger ones. 

 

I use only braid, PowerPro and 832.  I bring 6 rods and have 30 lb braid on 4, 20 pound braid on 1, and 65 pound braid on another. 

Mono. It was good enough for your grandfather.

 

I find that I use some brand of mono in 10-12# line in most of my baitcaster fishing with no issues. If I was fishing dirty water slop I might need braid but I don’t so I won’t.

Try some 12# AN40, Mean Green, Siege, Super Natural or XXX.  I use some braid, but prefer a mono or co-polymer.  I am not a huge fan of fluorocarbon.  Braid goes on the reels that are used to toss lures into the slop.  Prefer 40# but have 60# on my frog rod and an Alphas F purchased used came with 30#.  It has worked out fine so far.  May drop down to 50# when the frog reel needs new line.

I use 10 lb mono or 30 lb braid. Go up in lb test from there if technique or cover calls for it.

For me, I have two current favorites...  12lb Invizx and 12lb CXX. 

12lb sufix siege or trilene XL

8lb Yo-Zuri an unnecessarily thick diameter for spinning gear, in my opinion. YZH runs thicker than most lines. 6lb YZH is 8-10lb diameter of most mono line depending on the brand, and it breaks at nearly 12lbs. It's more than enough.

 

12lb YZH would be the line I would have on my baitcaster if I only had one. It's about 14-15lb mono equivalent diameter and breaks at nearly 20lbs.

 

YZH excels at being an all purpose like and an alternative leader for people who dislike fluoro.
