Nrx spinning rod for Carolina rig

Featured Replies

Looking to get a friend an nrx spinning rod for his b day and can’t decide on which one.  He primarily throws a 8 inch lizard on a 1/4 ounce weight but also throws shakey heads (3/16) and senkos from time to time.  I was thinking the 803s but thought I would see what you guys thought.

He he is currently using extreme rods.

Thanks!

My #1 fish catcher this year has been a Carolina Rig 1/4oz on a spinning reel with various plastics. Not familiar with those rods but do like a 7ft  MH with some backbone if that helps.

That would be a sweet rod for those applications.

Personally I would consider an 852 or 853 if they make one or a 872 or 873. But I like a little longer rod myself.

Thanks for the help guys..?

I have the 803s and it does have surprising power. Same blank as the 803c if you were wondering.    I  can see it doing 3/8oz and under rigs.
