windshield

Featured Replies

So I got my first bass boat. Intry level Tracker Pro 160.I fish alone so it's small size is perfect for me.

I really like the boat so far, not the best quality but will do me for awhile. What I do not like is looking through the windshield.I feel like I get a distorted

view of whats ahead of me.I keep looking around to the side or sit up and look over.Do any of you feel the same way with your boats windshield?. I am really thinking about removing mine and going without.

Yes. Mine somewhat distorts the view if I’m looking through it. Typically I’m looking over it though. Not sure if you are able to do that with yours or not. I can still navigate looking through it when I want to tuck down behind it if it’s raining or there are a lot of bugs over the water smacking me in the face. For those reasons I would not remove mine, but yours may be more in your field of vision. If it’s easy to remove and later replace I’d just try without it and see how you like it and if there are any issues. If it’s something that’s difficult to remove and then replace later I would give it some time before you pull the trigger on removing.

Fortunately I don't have that problem on my boat, the top of the windshield is just below my sightline.  If I were you I would probably just remove it.  Another option might be to take it to a glass shop and see if they could cut it down for you.

Thanks for the replies. The windshield rises high on this boat. I have to raise up out of my seat

a bit to look over. I'm gonna try without it and maybe look for a place that could cut it down.

I do not believe Tracker makes a lower version.

Never had a bass boat I had to look through the windshield.  If I did, I would take it off.  The one I have now and the ones in the past with them were designed so they deflect the wind up and over.

I guess that's one of the advantages of always owning go fast style boats, and being almost 6'2" probably helps a little also.

I would take it off, or use some Lexan to make another, I would not cut it off unless you had a spare.  They can be hard to find and expensive.  Being made out of plexiglass they can break very easy in the wrong place if you start trying to cut it.  Lexan will not break so it can be shaped a lot easier, but you have to dig a little deeper in your pocket for a piece.

They are very easy to cut down, but if your uncomfortable doing to, take it to a windshield repair place. It takes 15 minutes and they will likely charge you 25.00.  I have cut at least 5 motorcycle windshields and looking above is preferred

The primary function of my windshield is to hold some rod clips, so that on the driver side of the deck the rods are angled off the deck and easier to grab .   My windshield is low enough that I don't need to look through it to see where I'm going.

I look at mine as a "wind" shield so I can keep my hat on.
