Tatula elite f/p

Featured Replies

Does anyone own one? Curious how it handles lighter weights as well as if you can cast a jig a decent distance in between pitches. Not looking for bomb casts with it obviously, but a medium cast would be nice. Thanks.

I haven't thrown anything light on it, but on a normal cast I don't see much difference between it and my other tatulas. If I recall correctly it's mostly about how it works at low speed/end of a cast, and on a normal cast I'm thumbing it at the end anyway. If it helps, I have to respool it because I got too much backer on and was spooling the braid all the way down to the backer.

Haven't done much pitching with it yet so can't help on that front. I just put it on my jig rod and treat it like a normal reel.

Here is a video, it's a reel test comparing the Elite vs the Tatula 100. Worth a watch If your considering an Elite.

I wouldn't recommend the Curado DC if you want to cast light weights. I would go with the Curado 70 if you wanted a Shimano for lighter weight stuff.

Well now I'm more confused. 250 is my budget, id have to order a tatula ct and i wanted something today lol. Thanks again, i like hearing several opinions even if I'm more confused lol.

You "can" cast lighter weights, but I have had better experiences with other reels and the DC wouldn't be my "go-to" option for light stuff.

What are you trying to throw?

1/4 to 3/4 bottom contact mainly. To pair  with my mh expride A. Jigs, Texas rigs. 3/8 would probably be tied on the most.

That's something that makes the DC seem so worthless to me, for lack of a better word. It's better for bigger baits and yet bigger baits are much easier to cast, making the DC kind of pointless since it's marketed as an easy to cast reel.

I could up my budget to 300$ if there is a clear upgrade at that price point. I can cast a baby brush hog with a1/8 oz weight on my tatula 100... guess i figured reels costing 100$ more from good brands would do that and then some. Thanks for the help guys. I love this site.

A 3/8oz Texas rig isn't really a light bait so you should be able to cast that fine with most reels, DC or otherwise.

I would rather have a Chronarch MGL ($270) then the Curado DC around the same price or the Curado 70 ($200) if you wanted to save a little money. The Dawia equivalent would probably be the Zillion SV ($300) and Tatula SV ($200).

^^^^^ Opps, missed the f/p part...

Why not get an already proven reel that costs less money? The Tatula SV TW is baddass reel and you can get them for way less money. The SV TW can cast light to heavy lures great, and is a beautiful reel to boot. It's a great flipping reel too. It would give you lots of options.

So i found a newer store I've never heard of 20 miles from me and did just that. Bought a tatula sv and took it out on the lake with 14 miles per hour wind and started casting a weightless baby brush hog and moved up in weight gradually.Never skipped a baitcaster so i messed with that for a little while with mixed success but i never backlashed. I absolutely love it. Finished up fishing a half ounce swim jig, caught a pike and called it a day. Thanks to the community for helping a newer bass fishermen get a great reel.
